Overview
In the rainforest of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park live on the 300 mountain gorillas. These are about 50% of the world population. The park is the most accessible to gorillas in Uganda. In addition to the mountain gorillas, there are nine other primate species such as chimpanzees, white-nosed and full-spotted monkeys in the park. The park is also home to the indigenous batwa group. The rainforest contains a rich variety of wildlife with approximately 305 species of birds, 200 butterfly species and 14 snake and 43 reptile species. Several trails that can be taken with a guide lead into the rainforest.
